Step 1 of 2

Takes about two minutes.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. The estimate is free and there is no obligation. Tell us what you need and we set a time to look at the job.

Do you take small repair jobs?

Yes. A few loose pickets, one leaning post or a gate that won't latch are jobs we take, not just new fences.

Can you fix my iron gate instead of replacing it?

Often, yes. Broken hinges, cracked welds and sagging frames can usually be welded and squared up for less than a new gate. Text a photo and we tell you if it is worth repairing.

How much does a fence cost in Houston?

It depends on the material, height and length. Typical installed prices in Houston run about $25 to $45 per foot for a 6 ft wood privacy fence, $10 to $25 for chain link and $50 to $85 for iron. Use the instant estimate for a ballpark, and we confirm the price after seeing the job.

Do I need a permit for a fence in Houston?

Inside the City of Houston, a fence 8 feet tall or less does not need a city permit. Anything taller, and any masonry or concrete fence, does. Other cities around Houston, HOAs and deed restrictions have their own rules, so ask us and we help you check before we build.

Do you work on commercial properties?

Yes. Muniz Fence works on homes and on businesses, from a backyard fence to a commercial lot.

Do you speak Spanish?

Yes. When you call, press 1 for English and you talk with Helen, or press 2 for Spanish and you talk with Carlos. In the form, pick the language you prefer.

What areas do you serve?

We are based in southeast Houston (77061) and work across Houston and the nearby cities. Send your ZIP code with your request and we confirm right away.

Cedar or pine for a fence in Houston?

Cedar costs more but resists rot and insects better. Pressure-treated pine is the budget choice and lasts longer if it is sealed or stained. Both work; it comes down to budget and how much upkeep you want.

Can you replace my old fence?

Yes. We take the old fence down, haul it away and build the new one. Removal usually adds a few dollars per foot to the price.

Do I need a permit for an 8 ft wood fence in Houston?

Not inside the City of Houston: fences 8 feet or less don't need a city permit. Taller fences do. Other cities around Houston and HOAs have their own rules.

How much does an iron fence cost in Houston?

Houston averages run about $50 to $85 per foot installed, depending on the height, the style and the gates. We give you the exact price after seeing the job.

Can you add a motor to my driveway gate?

Yes. We install gate motors on new gates and on most existing ones, after checking that the gate swings or slides freely. See gate motors.

What are the rules for a pool fence in Houston?

In the City of Houston a pool enclosure must be at least 4 feet tall and its gates must close and latch on their own (City Code Sec. 43-33). Other cities have similar rules.

Can you put a motor on my existing gate?

Usually, yes. We check that the gate is level, swings or slides freely and that the posts can take the load. If it needs welding or a new post first, we do that in the same job.

My gate motor stopped working. Can you fix it?

Send a photo or a short video of the gate and the motor. Many failures come from a gate that drags, a bad sensor or a dead battery, and those are quick fixes.

Do automatic gates need safety sensors?

Yes. Under the UL 325 safety standard, openers made since 2016 need two separate entrapment protections in each direction, opening and closing, and the motor won't run without them. Photo eyes and safety edges do that job, and we include them in every installation (DASMA, TDS 356).

How much does a gate motor cost?

It depends on the gate, its weight and the opener. As a national reference, Angi's 2026 figures put an installed automatic gate at about $2,380 to $8,000, and Fixr lists solar openers at about $500 to $2,000 for the equipment alone. Adding a motor to a gate you already have usually costs less than a new automatic gate. We give you the exact price after seeing the gate.

Does a gate motor need an electrician?

The 120-volt outlet or circuit that powers the motor must be done by a licensed electrician; in the City of Houston, electrical permits go only to registered master electricians. Low-voltage wiring for sensors, keypads and buttons is exempt. If there is no power near the gate, a solar opener avoids the new circuit.

Why does my driveway gate drag?

Usually the hinge post has leaned, the hinges are worn, or the frame has twisted under its own weight. Each one has a different fix, which is why a photo helps.

Do you weld things other than fences and gates?

Tell us what you have in mind when you call or send the form. Fences, gates and their hardware are what we do every day.

Do you take small fence repairs?

Yes. A few loose pickets, one leaning post or a gate that won't latch are jobs we take, not just new fences.

Repair or replace my fence?

If the damage is in one area, repair. If many posts are rotten and the boards are failing along the whole run, a replacement usually makes more sense. We tell you which one after seeing it.

How much does a fence repair cost in Houston?

A typical repair in Houston runs about $200 to $300, depending on how many posts and boards need work. Text a photo for a closer number.

Can you repair a gate a truck hit?

Usually. Bent frames and broken hinges can often be straightened and rewelded. Send a photo so we can tell you before coming out.

Do you put motors on commercial gates?

Yes, on swing and sliding gates. We check that the gate moves freely first, since a heavy gate that drags wears out any motor.

Do you do concrete work without a fence job?

Yes. Concrete can be done with your fence or on its own. Tell us what you need poured.

Do I need a permit for a concrete fence in Houston?

Yes. The City of Houston requires a permit for masonry or concrete fences of any height. Concrete footings for a wood or iron fence are a different matter.

Can you pour the pad for my gate motor?

Yes, and install the motor in the same job. See gate motors.

What kind of remodeling do you do?

Tell us about your project when you call or send the form, and we tell you right away if it is a job for us.

Is the remodeling estimate free?
