Pasadena starts just east of our side of Houston, and its west side is a short drive from 77061. It has its own fence code: a permit for most fence work, a 7-foot limit and strict rules for the front yard.
If you are replacing a fence with the same material in the same place, Pasadena does not ask for a permit, which keeps most repairs and like-for-like replacements simple.
Residential fences up to 7 ft. In front of the setback line only chain link, iron or picket fences are allowed, up to 4 ft. Commercial fences go up to 9 ft, and anything over 7 ft needs an engineer-sealed plan.
Fences are not allowed in city, county, TxDOT or Harris County Flood Control drainage easements, and electric fences are prohibited.
